ABOUT

North River Methodist Church is a loving and compassionate community of ordinary individuals who bravely place their trust in Jesus, allowing Him to perform extraordinary feats.

North River Methodist Church was born from a shared vision to create a Christ-centered church rooted in Scripture, committed to discipleship, and dedicated to serving our community with the love of Jesus Christ.

Our first worship service was held on January 19, 2025, at the Hixson Community Center. Eighty-eight people gathered in worship for this historic service. It was a joyful beginning that included worshipers of every generation—from our youngest children to our oldest members.

As our congregation continued to grow, so did our ministries. By the end of 2025, Sunday School classes had been established for all ages.

At North River Methodist Church, we believe the Church is not a building—it is the people who gather together to worship, serve, and grow in faith. Since our beginning, our congregation has worshipped in several different locations. This demonstrates that our mission is rooted in being a Christian community of faith rather than being dependent on a physical space.

We are currently blessed to worship at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hixson, where we continue to welcome all who are seeking a place to belong and to grow in their relationship with Christ.

The men and women of NRMC's team are passionate about our church and providing members with everything they could possibly need.

Chuck Starks

Senior Pastor

Joy! Eternal Joy is one of the many characteristics of the One True Living God. The Book of Nehemiah declares, "The joy of the Lord is your strength."

As a Pastor my honor & privilege is to share with people "the joy of the Lord."

Why? Because I want to help people to be strong in the Lord. We must have His strength to live as His people in today's world. I have been a Pastor for many years. But, "the joy of the Lord" is more exciting to me today than ever before. That's why I want everyone to live with "the joy of the Lord!"

Come, share in this joy with us!

Michelle Schofield

Director of Church Operations

For the past 13 years, I have had the privilege of serving in church administration, and I've come to truly enjoy the organized chaos that comes with the role. I love helping people find answers and keeping things moving behind the scenes. I was recently reminded during a Bible study that God calls us to be rivers, not lakes—to let His Word continually flow through us rather than keeping it to ourselves. That image has become a personal encouragement and reflects how I hope to serve: faithfully, joyfully, and in ways that help others experience God's love and grace.

Robin Brown
Pianist

I have been blessed to serve in church music ministry for over 46 years as pianist, youth choir director, handbell director, and worship leader. I find great joy in helping others grow in their faith through worship and creating meaningful worship experiences for everyone. Throughout the years, my goal has been to lead with joy, humility, and a heart for the Lord. Psalm 100:1 has always been an inspiration to me:  "Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!" It is my prayer that by helping build the music program at NRMC, others are encouraged to make their joyful noise.

We believe that church isn't just about a building with a cross. It's about people's relationship with God and each other.
